Automotive Engine Air Intake & Fuel Filter Housing Injection Mold
Published On: October 12, 2026

Driven by automotive lightweighting and powertrain integration, filter housings must deliver exceptional structural strength and long-term sealing performance under high temperature, vibration, and pressure environments. This project focuses on developing a high-precision injection mold for a complex, multi-port filter housing used in automotive engine air intake and fuel filtration systems. Utilizing PP-GF30 (30% Glass Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene), the product presented severe manufacturing challenges, including glass fiber warpage, strict dimensional tolerances, and stringent sealing requirements.
Technical Solutions
Warpage & Leakage Control: Optimized hot runner system and conformal-style cooling channels via Moldflow analysis to minimize thermal stress and internal shrinkage, ensuring precise sealing surfaces and thread integrity.
High Durability & Smooth Ejection: Crafted with high-grade P20 / 718H mold steel and equipped with precision ejector pins and sleeves to enable seamless demolding of complex lateral ports and deep cavities.
Project Results
The single-cavity tool (650 x 600 x 680 mm, ~820 kg) successfully met the primary customer specifications during initial validation. Molded components satisfied key structural and sealing performance criteria—including internal pressure, burst resistance, and air-tightness thresholds—and the mold is currently running in stable OEM serial production.
