High-Precision Injection Molds for Luxury Cosmetic Packaging
Published On: August 20, 2026

Challenge
Premium cosmetic packaging—including powder compacts, flip-top caps, lipstick tubes, and cream jars—demands strict aesthetic and haptic standards. Producing high-gloss, multi-component packaging components presents demanding molding hurdles: visible weld lines, gate marks, micro-sink marks, and inconsistent hinge retention forces, all of which can compromise visual elegance or cause coating adhesion failures during downstream plating and vacuum metallization.
Solution
Concealed Gating & Sub-Gate Design: Implemented precision hot runner systems with sub-surface gating in non-visible functional zones, effectively concealing gate scars on outer aesthetic shells.
Optical Core-Cavity Polishing: Applied mirror-finish S136 hardened stainless steel mold inserts with multi-stage diamond-paste polishing to achieve SPI A1 optical smoothness and minimize visible parting lines.
Precision Hinge & Thread Tooling: Developed custom slider mechanics and collapsing core mechanisms to maintain uniform wall thickness and precise tolerances across flip-top hinges and threaded closures.
Results
High Post-Processing Yield: Consistently achieved a ≥98.5% first-pass yield for downstream electroplating and vacuum metallization without the need for pre-sanding or surface rework.
Haptic & Snap Consistency: Maintained uniform lid retention forces and tactile flip-top snap feedback across high-volume, multi-cavity production runs within a ±0.01mm tolerance range.
Aesthetic Defect Suppression: Effectively suppressed flow marks, weld lines, and parting line flash on high-transparency and metallic-tinted cosmetic caps, ensuring a premium visual finish.
