Automotive Overhead Console (OHC) buttons serve as primary human-machine interfaces controlling interior lighting, sunroof systems, and emergency functions. For this Corolla program, the client required stringent quality standards for high-volume, reliable production.
Complex Geometries: Compact dimensions, intricate internal ribbing, and strict aesthetic requirements.
Strict Performance Criteria: Demands crisp tactile feedback, smooth actuation, precise gap-and-flush alignment with adjacent trim, and long-term mechanical durability under demanding thermal conditions.
2. Engineering Solutions & Mold Architecture
To fulfill these demanding automotive specifications, our engineering team custom-designed and manufactured the high-precision, multi-cavity injection mold shown above:
Advanced Structural Architecture: Incorporates high-precision side-action lifters, angled sliders, and modular core/cavity inserts. Critical plates and alignment components are fabricated from premium heat-treated tool steel and processed via ultra-precise CNC milling and EDM to ensure structural rigidity and longevity.
Precision Tolerancing & Thermal Management: Optimized runner system dynamics, strategically placed gates, and an efficient cooling channel layout reduce internal stress and warpage—ensuring tight dimensional stability and smooth button actuation upon full assembly.
Class-A Cosmetic Capability: Mold cavities are precision-machined and prepared for specialized polishing and texturing, engineered to produce flash-free and sink-mark-free components that satisfy Class-A automotive interior standards.
